Mama Witch is back

Wow what a twist. I never would´ve guessed that she was in the coffin. After the Katya story told so eloquently by the Original brothers (isn´t it weird that all the hot vampire brothers seem to fall in love with the same girl ?) I had a nagging feeling that the first blood bank was in the coffin. But Mama Original Witch is a nice twist. The next episodes are going to be really intriguing because of the Original family back and in action.

We are kind of sad to see Papa Forbes die and we are still confused on the whole Ring thing.

Yes they tried to technically explain it because Elena is the doppelgänger she is supernatural and she can kill Rick and he comes back but seriously it was a huge gamble.

What would these idiots have done when Rick really had died? And does 911 in that town work differently? They dial and hang up and no one follows up?

OK enough rambling.

Finders Keepers ?!

After two real Episodes (not counting the back-door pilot) FOX´s Finder is on a track to really find its place but there is this nagging little feeling in the back of my head that I have seen this before. A short look into my database brought me to another very different kind of detective. Shawn Spencer, anyone?!

OK The Finder is set in Florida and Psych is set in Santa Barbara but the overall tone and coloring is pretty similar. Even Shawn and Walter have some ( a lot of ) similarities. I guess they are different as to Walter has his genius trade because of his injury and Shawn is pretending to be psychic but there mannerisms in solving their cases are pretty much the same. This does not mean that we don´t like the Finder we just felt reminded of our sweet pineapple loving friends over at USA.

So now you can decide for yourselves, is The Finder a show you are going to keep watching? We most certainly are going to keep our eyes on it, even if it only is so we can see Geoff Stults on our screens again. Yes we love him .

Murder Mystery is trendy?!

The new and highly anticipated Sarah Michelle Gellar project.

The internet was abuzz when news came out for the fall season 2011. Ex-Buffy Sarah Michelle Gellar would be headlining a new CW show. TV critics and blogger (as if that isn´t the same thing ) were all looking forward to this. The dangerous thing about highly anticipated shows is that they can dissappoint and dare I say that the switch seemed to work a little too seemlessly. The contrast between Shioban and Bridget is much bigger and it was hard to believe that no one would realise they are not talking to Shiv but okay for the sake of entertainment we`ll roll with it.

The reason why Bridget runs is a shady FBI case in which she seems to be the key witness and the guy she is supossed to flip on wants her dead. Over the course of the episodes the web of lies on all sides grows really thick and the viewers are constantly asking themselves how much of what is going on was a plan from the beginning?!

Shioban seemingly has a lot of threads in her hand and she must be incredibly intelligent, to even think of this kind of plan. But what exactly is her endgame?

This writer has seen ALIAS and other high stake mystery arch shows but as off now there is still confusion.

Patiently awaiting new episodes to see where it is all going and in fun little side plot Ringer brings us more of Jason Dohring, as the hot teacher(there are a few of those on TV right now, right).

High school meets High Fashion

Jane by Design is ABC Family`s newest addition and when you squint you can even over look the ridiculous notion that a high schooler can get the position of PA but it has a hard stand because after Switched at Birth any show has a difficult live.

Jane Quimby is a 16 year old high school loner with a, well lets call it rebellious and forward fashion style. As any teenage girl in a TV Show she has a long time crush and a guy best friend (who is the only one who knows about her double life). Don`t run away it gets even crazier.

By the second episode this girl has to attend a fashion line preview and her winter formal at the same time, and the whole thing almost works. And naturally so the show doesn't`t blow up in a matter of seconds she manages the high fashion stuff but crumbles in the personal life section of a high schooler …. oh yeah and the old dress of her mom, which she reworked and pepped a little is sent out as the final puzzle piece of her designer bosses line (yeah I see a fun reveal coming when the line hits stores ).

Okay enough nagging … it is a fun and quirky show and it could develop into a new guilty pleasure.

An unexpected Pleasure

Yes we realize we are supposed to have posts for a boatload of Shows ready but today we got distracted by the release of this wonderful trailer.

First glimpse of an amazing movie ?!

Back in the day when the first Lord of the Rings Movie came out we were skeptical and way too young to have a real opinion besides “Isn't he cute?” –> relate this to any actor in the movie but not the blonde one . Yeah we somehow didn’t love Orlando Bloom back then but that changed after Pirates. (or maybe Kingdom of Heaven). So how did you like the return to Middle earth and to see Gimli, Frodo and and and again?

We love and are probably making an exception and run to the theater to see the movie on the first night out!

Hiatus and Back

So sorry that we had to take an extended hiatus but our real lives (what we do for money and such) got extremely busy. We are in the process of catching up on the summer shows as well as watching the fall premieres.

The Addicts

The (Fabulous) Fast and Furious Five

What guy doesn’t love fast cars and pretty women? You want that and car chases in a movie? Why not watch any 007 –James Bond or the classic Taxi?(I reference the 1998 French movie here and not the TV Show.) What makes Fast and Furious such a successful movie franchise? Is it the street racing? The illegal thrill? Taking into account that the first movie came out in 2001 after a reboot of Gone in 60 seconds in 2000 ; originally from 1974 you could say that it came from this but that can’t be the only reason. The remake of Gone in 60 seconds with Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie didn’t exactly get raving reviews. Well one other major contributing factor to this could’ve been – and I am pretty sure of that – the success of the Computer and Video Game ‘classic’ Need for Speed. The first part of this particular gaming franchise hit the market 1994!

And of course the classic and always there love story is woven into every movie and the eye candy well we’ll get to that in the separate part discussions.

Part 1: The Fast and the Furious

Starring: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez

According to imdb Taglines for this movie included

“If loyalties must be broken, If the lines must be crossed, do it fast, do it Furious”

and

“When the sun goes down, Another world comes to life”.

Both capture the movies story brilliantly but didn’t you also get a little Vampire/Werewolf and other creatures chill with the latter? Yes, todays media world is practically overflowing with these creatures and the people creating the line were referencing the underground racing scene but I could also imagine another movie with that tagline. A movie about two creatures of the night. But that’s besides the point.

The Fast and the Furious is at it’s core about an undercover cop who infiltrates the street racing scene and learns that they aren’t all bad guys. He falls in love and his conflict gets bigger. In the end he even lets the guy get away. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker created, with their acting, two characters and a believable if yet unstable ( built on lies) friendship.

Part 2: 2 Fast 2 Furious

Starring: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson and Cole Hauser

This was the movie for Paul Walker. Due to contracting issues Vin Diesel wasn’t in this one and so the plot was pretty much about Brian O’Conner (Walkers character). O’Conner gets caught on having his friend Dom letting escape at the end of the last film and he gets a chance to, well lets say redeem himself. He has to infiltrate a drug distribution ring and as luck will have it he has to win a street race to get a job as a currier in the ring. At his side is an ex-con (also a friend…. he seems to have a lot of cons in his circle) and one of my favorite quotes in the whole movie stems from this ‘friend’:

“You always get in trouble over a girl!”

The girl causing the trouble in this movie is the fabulous Eva Mendes, who plays Monica Fuentes, an undercover cop already inside the drug cartels inner circle.Overall a good movie but without Vin Diesel the movie isn’t as good as the first. (Sadly)

Part 3: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Starring: Lucas Black, Zachery Ty Bryan and Bow Wow

The first movie in the franchise with technically no involvement by actors form the first two films. I have to say technically because SPOILER ALERT Vin Diesel has a cameo in the last scene as a street racer. We assume as his character Dom Torreto but it is never said. With the movie, like the title suggests we left the US and went to Japan where apparently street racing is the latest fun activity too. I have to confess I was confused when I read who was starring in this. I had never heard about Lucas Black before and Zach Bryan is always going to be one of the kids from Home Improvement for me and Bow Wow is more famous for his music. But I got to admit his acting career isn’t shabby. I for one was also confused by the age the character are supposed to have. Does anyone know?

Over all I didn’t think this movie was perfect, it was entertaining but it could’ve been a stand alone only named Tokyo Drift.

Part 4: Fast and Furious

Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster

God I remember quite vividly when we read about this movie for the first time and when we saw the tagline

“New Model. Original Parts.”

We were giddy and planned the trip to the theater in advance. Way in advance.

The first part of the movie was and is confusing. Dom is back in the states? How? (SPOILERALERT Watch the end credits!) He is stealing trucks with his crew. Somehow Brian O’Connor now is a FBI agent but his boss(es) don’t really trust him. (They gave him a car and had him put a tracker in it! Watch what happens when he has to kill the GPS chip to not get his cover blown! [Quote from his supervisor(?): “He is running!”] Yeah right!) As per usual Walker’s character has to infiltrate some street racing drug smuggling group to do his job and just as trouble will have it Dom is there too. Yeah Letty sadly had to die for that to happen but still Dom is back and wants revenge. He blames Brian for her death, because she worked for him when she got killed. The drug lord who killed Letty is the same the two now drive for. (Yes I know the story is lame and predictable!) What is fun to watch again is that the two knuckleheads have to work together and well trust in each other to survive and the struggle they portray was believable to me! Finally back with our favorite speed limit breaking guys we loved this movie and can only say WATCH IT! Oh and honorary mention for Laz Alonso. He was one of the drivers in the mexico dessert thing (The pussie!) He know stars in Breakout Kings as a Marshal who is working with convicts to catch escaped prisoners.

Part 5: Fast & Furious Five

Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson

The original Title for this movie was and is Fast Five but I kind of prefer that too but for the sake of keeping the titles in one theme lets go with Fast&Furious Five, okay?

The first movie in which Paul Walker’s character is not on assigment on the wrong side of the law (well where is the wrong side when the supposed bad guys are the movies heroes?). Dwayne Johnson as an FBI agent is hot on their tail but he is not the only one! So it is a fast paced movie in which our favorite speeding duo has to escape two ‘hunters’. In the end even the romance heavy subplot gets an end. Yes she is pregnant. (Although I am asking myself when they had time for that to happen?)

Part 6: TBA

There are rumors around that a sixth part is in the making. If and when it hits this review will get updated and reposted.

The Late Night Ax at work

Fox announced late last night the cancellation of 5 shows to make room for the newly ordered to series Projects.

So which shows got the boot? And does it hurt? YES!

Human Target --> I was looking forward to how they would clean up the mess that was Season2, maybe it is better this way?!
Breaking In --> This sucks for Christian Slater (his TV Shows seems to kill themselves after 1 Season) and it sucks because the show was awesome and Michael Rosenbaum hilarious as Dutch.
The Chicago Code-> NOOOOO! This show is great! And the story by no means finished I mean last episode Jarek finally came clean to his 'fiancé'.... would've loved to see more.
Lie to Me --> The show was never all light and fluffy but it took a decidedly more darker turn in the last season, sadly it had to pay for that. On the other hand we have our dvd's and can try ourselves as micro expression readers :).
Traffic Light --> I have to admit that I gave up on this show after 2 Episodes so no wonder here!

And what are the newly ordered Shows?

The Finder

Yes my friends they picked it up! The Bones Spin-off is a go! We will see if there are changes to the cast seeing as Saffron Burrows wasn't really liked by the fans when Bones aired the Backdoor-Pilot Episode. I am curious to see Michael Clarke Duncan in this role and at that more often onscreen. Geoff Stults is the eye candy in here and I have to admit I kinda had a crush on him back when he first came to Seventh Heaven.

Alcatraz

Another Show by J.J. Abrams, the brilliant man that gave us Alias, Lost and Fringe (all three mythological heavy shows) and more. Alcatraz is set to star Lost vet Jorge Garcia and the Pilot at least reads great on other cast. I am not sure at the moment but Parminder Nagra (ER, Bend it like Beckham) is going to be a regular on the show too. I am going to give it a try at least.

The New Girl

This comedy starring Zooey Deschanel has us intrigued because it is supposed to be about 'sexual politics' and well it is Zooey. So now both Deschanel sisters are under contract with FOX that is a hit. And just another movie actor going (back) to the small screen!

I hate my teenage daughter

The shows name alone... kind of sounds like Shit my dad says (no offense people). Teenagers are supposed to be rebellious so hating them isn't all that hard and can I say it, taking out your teenage frustration on your kid is just pathetic. We'll give it a try and decide again.

ALIAS–A five year mystery puzzle

From the pilot, which was more of a short movie, this show has produced many Question marks and with them captivated viewers. ALIAS combines the strong female spy with a sensible young woman and throws in a heavy mystery plot. Although throwing in isn’t exactly the right word for the mystery plot, revolving around a DaVinci and Nostradamus like Italian inventor and philosopher named Milo Rambaldi.

The pilot set the ground work for Sydney Bristow’s (Jennifer Garner) mood and motives for the upcoming seasons. Together with her the viewer slowly uncovers the secrets and truths in the world of ALIAS. Sydney has more than one life changing moment in the pilot. First she gets proposed to only to find her now fiancé dead (murdered) in the bathtub then she finds that her father, who she thinks works with Airplane parts, really is a double agent for the CIA inside SD-6. SD-6 is Sydney’s employer but she thought it was a secret branch of the CIA. This all is wonderfully summarized in Sydney’s voice over at the beginning of each episode.

My name is Sydney Bristow. Seven years ago I was recruited by a secret branch of the CIA called SD-6. I was sworn to secrecy, but I couldn't keep it from my fiancé. And when the head of SD-6 found out, he had him killed. That's when I learned the truth: SD-6 is not part of the CIA. I've been working for the very people I thought I was fighting against. So, I went to the only place that could help me take them down. Now I'm a double agent for the CIA, where my handler is a man named Michael Vaughn. Only one other person knows the truth about what I do, another double agent inside SD-6. Someone I hardly know - my father.

The absolute magic about this voice over is that Jack Bristow (played by Victor Garber) turns exactly when she talks about the man she hardly knows -her father. The cutting here is brilliant. After Season 2 this Voice over was dicontinued and in its place aired the all known 'Previously'!

Over the course of all five Seasons the mystery that presents itself is Milo Rambaldi. It seems that only is Sydney part of his Nostradamus -like prophecy but also her family and close friends somehow play into the puzzle. May it be that they are part of the prophecy or wanting to uncover his secret message or his way to eternal life.

I can only recommend this show for people who like to remember trivia because when you know more you can enjoy plot twists more that otherwise just seem ridiculous e.g. the double resurrection of Irina Derevko (Lena Olin).

I only recently started a list of all the shows I have watched over the years and I was shocked.

I am not even finished yet but the number already is 76.

This doesn't even include shows I gave up on yet.

For example the early seasons of House MD, I loved and enjoyed them really much and not only because I am a Lupus Warrior, no I loved the team but with the newbies it kind of ended for me.

This blog is going to be about all the shows I love and hate and watch. Also all of my guilty pleasures including One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and a hell of a lot other shows.

I remember back in the day when we had to wait two or three years to see a season in germany and now they are airing some shows with only half a season in between. For example The Vampire Diaries the Germans are already showing Season 2 and are nearing Tylers transformation. All you americans know that wasn't all that long ago, right?

I guess I have a neck for serialized and thematic shows but over the years I let a lot of them slide when their tone changed. These include CSI and CSI Miami strangely I still follow CSI NY. I really enjoyed the original CSI at the beginning and I loved the Quentin Tarantino episodes; they were scary as hell.

I mean it do you know the feeling when you watch a show and you find out an episode was a season finale afterwards but the episode didn't really feel like a finale? I had that one time only if my memory serves me completely correct. It was the season three finale of ALIAS. I mean do you remember that one? They shoot Lauren and poof. I was dissapointed when I discovered that after buying the DVD's. Season 2 was great and Season 4 was fantastic but 3? Sorry JJ that was horrible but my guess is LOST was so much more important back then. On the subject of LOST, that probably is one of only a few shows I never got into. Not for the lack of trying. I rented Season 1 on DVD and started to watch but it wasn't for me. Why? I really can't say because I usually love a good mystery and I love FRINGE and I also love Undercovers (even if it is cancelled).

Last year I went back to watch all of ER and I fell in love with it all over again. I mean yes there are characters you just love to hate and in the end even Robert Romano was loveable even if Carrie got her revenge in the end. Now I am happy to see Paul McCrane on my screen again as the antgonist in Harry's Law (here is to hoping that that show will last longer then the Whole Truth, a show I truly liked but sadly the rest of you didn't?!)

Well to sum it up I plan on writing my own reviews from time to time and I would love to have guest writers. I am in no way making money of of this and sometimes I will go back and do my TV experiments. Like right now I am trying to figure out why I stopped watching Criminal Intent and am only watching SVU.

Any guesses on that or on any of the 76 shows that are currently on my list or which are still missing?

My harddrives (yes plural) are nearly on full capacity so I may need to buy another one or just outsource.
